In this post I am
going to explain all about some hidden features and tasks that this interpreter
can run. So why to wait? Let's start to explore the command prompt. More you go
deep, the more you gain. Keeping this our motto let's begin our venture.
First of all open (and the most important)
Command prompt with administrator privileges because some command that will be
discussed here will need so. After that go serially to the under given tips and
features to unhide their potential.
>> Enable Quick edit mode: Are you very missing the
copy-paste function in the command prompt? Don't miss so much this feature is
present here also (for your surprise). Just right click on the topmost part
(where name command prompt is written besides mini/maxi-mise and cross button
is located. As soon as you right click on that you see a menu pop-up select
properties from the same. Then after you will see a new window. Just check the
box that is named "Quick Edit Mode". Now you can select any text or
command as you do in general. After selecting just right click two times
wherever you want to paste. There is no need of pressing ctrl+c or other. Only
try to copy and paste a single line at a time.
>> Check default programs: To check which file type is opened by which
program by default you can use command prompt as a powerful tool (for
individually each type of file). For performing this a command is there - just
type "assoc" without quotes and hit
enter key. No sooner that you press the carriage return key (enter key), you
have the list of all file types identified uniquely by their extension with its
corresponding program that will open it by default.
>> Get PC drivers list: Yes.......
don't underestimate the powers of command prompt once again. You can also see
the list of all installed drivers through a command in command prompt. To do
this you have to just type a command viz., "driverquery"
without quotes and press enter key. As soon as you press the enter key you will
see a screen full of drivers - their name, publisher's name and date & time
of installations.
>> Scan & Repair system
files: What!!!!!!!(I can imagine your expression a little
bit). Just keep yourself on the Earth
for some moments till the post ends(Just kidding, please don't take it on
heart). Command Prompt features a command that enables itself to scan all the
system files and repair the repairable ones. Just start the scan by entering “sfc/scannow” without quotes and press enter key. A
scan start and it will take about 30 to 45 minutes depending upon your system
capabilities.
>>
Get network details: With the help of command prompt you can
certainly get the list of connections, your IP address, connection state of
WiFi, LAN and much more. In short it deals about most network related query.
>>
Check IP address of any website: You can check manually without
any help of other means through of course Command Prompt. For this a command
named "nslookup" is used.
For
instance, type nslookup google.com
>>
Execute multiple commands all at one go: Command Prompt also
features the ability to enter many commands simultaneously. For this you have
to use "&&" between different commands.
For
instance, type and press enter - ipconfig&&assoc&&cls
(this command will execute one by one automatically with first come first
execute principle and in this cas your output screen will become blank a last).
>>
Save your query results(outputs) to a text file: Lastly
to conclude with you can save the output of your command in a text file for
this use ">drivename:\filename.txt".
For
instance, type this command and press enter: ipconfig&&assoc&&drivrquery

interesting as well.
